UGC NET ENGLISH RE-EXAMINATION — A MESSAGE TO MY STUDENTS
I know this is probably not the news any of you wanted to hear.
After months of preparation, sleepless nights, revision, mock tests, PYQs and the emotional exhaustion of finally appearing for the UGC NET June 2026 examination, many of you were waiting for your result and closure.
Instead, you have been asked to do it all over again.
And honestly, I understand why many of you are angry, frustrated, exhausted or even demotivated.
You did your part. You studied. You appeared for the examination. You trusted the system. The errors in the question paper were not created by you yet you are the ones who now have to bear the consequences of them.
NTA has officially stated that the English paper contained multiple factual, typographical, grammatical, translation and question-repetition errors, and that these were serious enough to require a complete re-conduct of the examination.
So, what happens now?
English NET will be re-conducted on:
📅 9 September 2026
⏰ 9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon
And importantly:
⏩️No additional examination fee will be charged.
⏩️NTA has also clarified that the subject-wise allocation already made for JRF, Assistant Professor and PhD eligibility will not be reduced because of the re-test.
But I also want to say something beyond the official notice.
Please give yourself permission to feel upset.
If you feel angry that your time and preparation have been disrupted because of mistakes that were not yours, that is completely understandable.
If you had mentally moved on from the exam and were waiting for your result, having to reopen your books can feel incredibly unfair. It is unfair.
But my dear students, this is where we have to separate what we cannot control from what we can.
We cannot undo the June paper. We cannot control NTA’s mistakes. But we can control what we do between now and 9 September.
And here’s the good news:
You are NOT starting from zero.
You have already studied the syllabus.
You have already faced the NET paper once.
You know where you struggled.
You know what surprised you.
You know what needs another revision.
This time, we prepare with experience on our side.
So don’t throw away your preparation. Don’t panic. Don’t spend the next few weeks endlessly discussing what went wrong.
Take a day. Feel whatever you need to feel. Then come back.
Revise
Practice MCQs & PYQs.
Strengthen your weak areas
And walk into that examination hall again...better prepared than before.
I am with you through this.
